Boston Tea Partiers,
We have managed to make quite an impact this election, considering all we’ve had to face. We’ve managed to nominate and place a presidential candidate on the ballot in three states, 50% more states than the Libertarian Party did in its first presidential election and almost certainly got more votes than their first candidate did. We endorsed many liberty loving candidates and managed to win a few of those races. We’ve grown our party and made it the fastest growing libertarian party in this country. considering the challenges we’ve faced, I believe we’ve done a pretty good job.
If we wish to grow and make a much bigger impact in upcoming elections we must continue to build on our success.
We are America’s only true libertarian party, this can be proved by our one sentence platform, “The Boston Tea Party supports reducing the size, scope and power of government at all levels and on all issues, and opposes increasing the size, scope and power of government at any level, for any purpose.” But I don’t think I need to tell you this, because by joining the party you have already proved that you know this. Because of this I will try my best to limit the number of ideological rants that I am so prone to while speaking in this letter.
We need to create a strategy in order for us to create a real impact. By strategy I do not mean a centralized plan drafted by a few high ranking individuals, much like the Libertarian Party’s, but a grassroots activist plan. I propose an Educate, Grow, Win strategy.
Educating the public should be our first priority, this is why it’s the first step in my strategy. We must deliver a message to the public that is radical, diverse and one that addresses real life problems with real life solutions. We do not need to water down our message at all to deliver it to the public, like the “LP Reformers” wish to and are doing (not successful I might add), for how can we grow a truly libertarian party without spreading a truly libertarian message? A radical message does not need to be totally philosophical and hard to understand; it can and must address the real life problems faced by Americans.
Our message must also be diverse and deliver to a diverse audience. Unlike the Libertarian Party we must target more than just mostly disaffected white, middle class conservatives. We need to outreach to the poor and to ethnic minorities (along with women, LGBT peoples, the young and the old plus anyone else who needs to hear our message). We must try to let every single person receive and understand our message.
We must never forget the main propose of the Boston Tea Party is to educate. We must never get lost and compromise our principles to win elections, like many in the Libertarian Party have done (*Cough, Cough*… the people who nominated Bob Barr). And we must remember that we ARE NOT like the Republicans and Democrats, so we need not try to act like them. We are principled so we do not use the same political tricks and gimmicks they do, along with all the other dirty and unethical acts they carry out.
While counting to educate, we must try to grow our party. This is step 2, in the Educate, Grow, Win strategy.
In the future, we must turn our candidates’ educational campaigns after their elections and integrate that same effort into the party. This way the party continues to grow even after elections. We must build strong state parties. This is something, I think, the Boston Tea Party understands because of the strict limits put on the power of the national party so I will not elaborate further.
The last step is to win. Victory will only come to us after we have educated the public about what liberty really is and what the only way to get it is. This step will come differently at different levels of government. We might elect several local level offices in the next election, but state level offices might be a few years off and federal level even more than that.
I believe that this is the only way that the Boston Tea Party has any chance of winning this ideological war for freedom. We must always remember that ideology does matter and that we are fight against the statist ideology of the Republican-Democrat Party. Do not give up and never surrender.

Police Brutality Toward Veterans

Kansas candidate for statehouse William Stewart-Starks was endorsed earlier this year by our state affiliate there. He recently wrote:
"It has started. The dangerous elements in our police forces are beginning to attack the innocent of our country. The martial law that has been thrown around by our politicians in Washington is beginning to rear its ugly head.
After the events at the DNC and the RNC that some of you were able to witness first hand, we have a further incident from police on the ground in NYC. Many friends of mine wanted to make it a point to bring the issues of our occupation in foreign countries to the forefront of the debate last night. In the process of several individuals speaking out, free speech zones were set up to limit the effectiveness of protest outside of the event. Several prominent members of the organization were detained but not before one soldier in uniform was trampled by mounted police. Some on the ground are now reporting that the horses were used as weapons and the soldiers and civilians that were trampled had been presumed killed in the confrontation. When our uniformed soldiers coming home are no longer safe from the police brutality and violence, what hope is there for the rest of us. Don't let this pass, take action! What will we do when confronted in these situations. Video and digital camera's will now be required at all our events to protect our members from any future illegal action such as this."

Indiana’s Hope
Andy Horning is Indiana’s best hope for a bright future. If you do not know who he is, you should. Andy is the Libertarian Party of Indiana’s candidate for Governor. Andy is a principled libertarian and a deep believer in freedom. He is not running for Governor because he wants to run your life or tell you how to spend your money, but because he wants you to live free.
If you have not seen him debate the other candidates for governor, republican incumbent Mitch Daniels and Democratic challenger Jill Long Thomas, then you can see highlights here and here. If you did see the last two Governor debates then you saw Andy was the only candidate of substance. Jill Long simply blames everything wrong on Mitch Daniels and Mitch Daniels says that there is nothing wrong at all. We all know both statements are false. Republicans and Democrats share equal blame for the problems we have today and they will do nothing to fix anything. They have been in power for the past 100 years and what have they done? Nothing but increase government control over your life and your money.
Let’s bring a candidate of substance who will bring real change to our statehouse. Let’s bring Andy Horning to Indianapolis.
This Wednesday, October 15th, Andy Horning and his running mate Lisa Kelly, a former Ron Paul campaign activist, is having a "Contract with Indiana Moneybomb" as a final fundraiser to air radio ads across the state. The video promoting this Moneybomb is here. The Horning-Kelly challenge is for you to give $10 for each principle you agree with of their campaign:
1. We promise to end corporate handouts.
2. We promise to obey the constitution, which was written to protect you.
3. We promise to reduce government spending.
4. We promise to cut property taxes by 50%, and replace that property tax with nothing.
5. We promise the freedom to choose your own lifestyle.

Election 2008 Predictions
The following is my prediction of the 2008 Election. I plan to expand on this later on, before the election.
Barack Obama will win the election in a landslide, winning 350 electoral votes and the swing states of Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Missouri, Ohio, New Hampshire, Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. The Democrats will win about 6 new senate, making them have 56 in total, seat and several new House of Representative seats also.
The Libertarian Party’s Bob Barr will come in third place, receiving almost 1,000,000 votes, beating Ed Clark’s 1980 vote total but not his percentage of the total vote (1.1%). Independent Ralph Nader will come in fourth place with around 750,000 votes beating his 2004 run but not his run in 2000. Cynthia McKinney will come in fifth place receiving 200,000 votes, an improvement for the Green Party from David Cobb’s 120,000 in 2004. Chuck Baldwin will come in a close sixth place with 185,000 votes beating all past vote totals for the Constitution Party.
As for the minor third party’s I expect Alan Keys to bet them all out with about 40,000 votes. I think Gloria La Riva and her new Party for Socialism and Liberation will have the highest vote total out of all the socialist parties. I think Socialist Party USA’s Brian Moore and Social Worker Party’s will both get around 10,000 votes. The Boston Tea Party’s Charles Jay will get about 5,000 votes, most of them write-ins. Prohibition Party Gene Amondson and Objectivist Party Tom Stevens will tie, both winning about 500 votes.

A Plan for Growing Our Party and libertarianism in General
In order to grow our party and libertarian ideas in general I believe we must do outreach. With the election coming to an end we must turn ourselves into an educational organization. This will be as or more effect as running in elections. Let’s not lay down the Boston Tea Party after November 4th, let’s continue to grow and the spread the message of freedom.
What we must do is something the Libertarian Party never could do correctly: outreach. All the Libertarian Party has done is pander for votes of disaffect conservatives, most being white males. We must reach out to every political ideology, ethnic group, gender, sexuality, religious belief, social-economic status and all other indefinable self-identities. We must tell people that freedom works, but in a way they can understand it. We are all different, that’s what individualism is, so we all must be reached in own way.
The only libertarian organization to do this to any degree of efficiency is Outright Libertarians, a gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender internal party lobbying and outreach organization. We must organize ourselves from the bottom to the top. Who knows best about your type of people in your own neighborhood than yourself?
Don’t get me wrong I still think we need a national organization to set long term goal and to provide an example of an effective libertarian example. But the national organization needs not to be the place activist look to get there “orders” from. The national should help to create outreach martial and guides on how to approach different people.
This idea is still in development but this is what I plan on doing after the election so I should have more to add soon. I do not know if this is something where the national committee or some other “official” organization would help to organize, like an “Outreach Department” or be a part of or if this would be an autonomous organization, much like Outright Libertarians. I also do not know if this organization would be best as one organization or several like having separate leftist outreach and conservative outreach groups.
What we must remember is that every single American is a possible libertarian. We have all came from different pasts and backgrounds but it has lead us all to this one place. Freedom is a wonderful thing, it has the ability to bring people together and that’s what the goal of the outreach organization(s) should be: to talk to people in their own special way to bring them together with other liberty loving Americans.

Bob Barr and the Supreme Court
Today, I received an email from the Bob Barr campaign entitled “Who will be on the Supreme Court one year from today?”. Russell Verney, the Barr Campaign Manager, showed how much of a neo-conservative both him and Bob Barr. In the e-mail he said:
"Barack Obama has made it clear that his Supreme Court nominees would be of the variety to make laws without regard for the Constitution. He has publicly stated his disdain for justices Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts."
I agree with Barack Obama on this, and I think most libertarians would agree with me. Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito and Chief Justice John Roberts have helped George Bush on his war against our civil liberties.
I think this really shows how little Bob Barr and his neo-con gang who have taken over the national Libertarian Party understand about the Constution. This is just the most recent un-libertarian action taken by the Barr Campaign. Time after time Barr has shown himself to be un-libertarian but yet I see good libertarians supporting his campaign.
I say enough is enough. We must not show this parasite, who has taken our party and America’s last, best hope, any support what so ever. We must stand together in opposition to this neo-con and the other neo-cons in office on the National Committee.
Anyone who votes for Bob Barr is showing disrespect to the Constution and to the rule of law and not loyalty to the Libertarian Party or the ideas it once stud for. In fact, a vote for Bob Barr is a vote against the Libertarian Party. If you vote for Barr or donate to his campaign you will encourage him or these who share his destructive and anti-libertarian ideas.
In places where you can vote for Charles Jay or George Phillies and still support the real libertarians down the ticket. If you live in a place where you cannot vote for a real libertarian presidential candidate then I suggest not voting. If you must vote for a presidential candidate then I’d suggest doing so for Ralph Nader or Chuck Baldwin so you will not be harming the Libertarian Party any further.

Where is a Ron Paul Activist to Go? The Boston Tea Party!

Ron Paul inspired millions with his message of freedom and brought hope to the American political process. But with all the enthusiasm and activism Ron Paul inspired he did not win the Republican Nomination. Ron Paul activist looked to the Libertarian Party to give them a candidate they could support. Instead the LP nominated Bob Barr.
While in congress Barr voted for the Iraq War and the Patriot Act. Barr also proposed to ban the practice of Wicca in the military and expanded the War on Drugs. He also wrote and voted for the Defense of Marriage Act.
Barr claims that he has changed his position on these issues but his actions in recent days and weeks have caused many to beg to differ. On Hannity and Colmes Barr said that he would not legalize the “hard drugs”. He also supports keeping some portions of the Defense of Marriage Act and has yet to release a statement about whether he still plans to ban a religion. And most recently Barr stubbed Ron Paul’s third party unity press conference claiming, “It wasn’t worth it”.
Bob Barr has proved himself NOT to be a libertarian.
Many Ron Paul supporters finding themselves without a candidate to support have turned to the Constitution Party and Chuck Baldwin. Many of these activists have been lead to believe that the Constitution Party is a libertarian or Ron Paul-like party. It is not.
The Constitution Party platform starts with, “The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States.” Apparently they don’t know that the United States is a secular nation.
There platform also states, “We oppose any legal recognition of homosexual unions” and “we oppose efforts to legalize adoption of children by homosexual singles or couples.” It als states, “we also believe that our collective representative body we call government plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining the highest level of decency in our community standards.” Libertarians recognize that government has no authority regulate mortally; the Constitution Party does not.
The Constitution Party and Chuck Baldwin have proved themselves not to be libertarian.
Now I bet you are asking yourself, “Were on Earth is a Ron Paul activist to go?” I’ll tell you, to the Boston Tea Party.
